Knitting Disaster!!
I experienced my first knitting disaster tonight. I decided to seam together the sleeves on my sweater and weave some of the ends. I had about 6 or 7 more inches to go on the front and I would be done. Well, I decided to try it on and it was a terrible fit. I think I may have made it too big, but none the less, it was horrible. Nothing was right about the sweater. The back neckline was half way down my back. What a waste of time. Never mind that it was boring to knit. Where is the sweater now you ask? In the trash.

What a drag!
ReplyDeleteI hope you didn't mean the trash literally....surely you kept the yarn?
--Jill
Hi again,
ReplyDeleteI haven't figured out how to introduce a new topic, so I apologize for going off-topic--and off knittng altogether I'm afraid, but I wanted to tell Kate and you too michelle that I just finished reading a REALLY good book for 5th graders (or a year on either side of that): When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead. It's a fun bit of mostly realistic fiction about a 12 yo girl living with her mother in NYC in 1979--very accurately portrayed. Her favorite book is Wrinkle in Time. She starts getting these puzzling notes. The relationships are nicely fleshed out and realistic. It never gets "dark" and the puzzle isn't fully revealed until th very end. An adult will figure out the puzzle pretty quickly but I think a 10 yr old will be kept guessing for a while.
Anyway, that's my book review :-) --Jill
Thanks Jill for the info. I will have to get that book for Caroline. She is a reading fanatic who just purchased 2 books from your store last weekend and had them both finished by Thursday. This summer, I bought her Wrinkle In Time and she loved it. She went on to read the whole series. This sounds like it would interest her. Thanks!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I am so sad about your sweater. I can't believe you ACTUALLY trashed it:-(
ReplyDeleteJill, I already passed on your recommendation to a former student who is always desperate for more books! I will check it out and bring it into my classroom. Ugh...I'm ready to quote Sam's new favorite line when I think about going back to work "It's not FAIR".
As some of you know, Kate and I return to school tomorrow!! In my opinion, it is the worst day of the school year. We have to sit in an auditorium and watch/listen to our superintendent and his assistant do their annual dog and pony show. It is a definite drag!! And it lasts for about 2 hours. The worst part is listening to them talk about their summer trips to Italy, etc. Hey, if we made anything close to what they make, we too would be able to share such adventures. Anyway, my favorite Sam quote continues to be, "After, later."
